My Story
About Deborah and Prairie Flow Healing Arts
Deborah Anthony, Holden Qigong Tier 1 Teacher in Arvada, CO.My name is Deborah, but my friends call me Deb. I started my life on a farm in the western part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. It was an idyllic childhood filled with long, hot summers spent playing in the woods on our 40-acre farm and enjoying fruit from our other 40 acres of apple orchards. As mischievous six- and seven-year-olds, my brother and I often climbed into our neighbor's cherry trees for a snack.
The peace and love of my family provided a wonderful backdrop for my upbringing. However, at eight, our lives changed dramatically when we moved to Chicago. The fast pace of city life brought new stressors, especially for my parents. Over the years, I developed poor coping skills, and as my adult life became increasingly chaotic, I turned to addictive substances, which led to a host of other issues.
Eventually, I found a way to free myself from these destructive addictions with the help of kind individuals in a recovery program. I learned how to live on life’s terms and met my spiritual advisor in those recovery rooms, who taught me how to meditate. I will always be grateful to her for her guidance. I began conducting meetings to share the techniques my friend had taught me. After ten years, I passed those meetings to someone I had mentored and moved on, but I strongly desired to do more for others and incorporate neuroscience to aid more people. Those in early sobriety often experience what I call “squirrel cage” syndrome, where their minds are racing and unable to find peace.
While searching for ways to help my students calm their frenetic thoughts, I stumbled upon Lee Holden's short Qi Gong videos on YouTube. To my surprise and joy, I discovered a powerful tool to assist others. I introduced some movements to my students, and their ecstatic reactions made me realize I had struck gold. This is when I decided to become a student of Holden Qi Gong.
I’m happy that Lee and his staff have been accommodating and supportive. His teaching style is accessible and approachable; I never felt overwhelmed. The instructions were clear, and his humble yet humorous personality made the experience enjoyable. I’m genuinely grateful to be able to help others in this healthy, energizing, and relaxing way. It brings me back to the joy and peace I felt as a six-year-old.
I have also been working with animals for over 15 years in my little pet care business. Over the years I have found that what is needed for a dog or cat that might have some behavior issues is for us, as their humans, need ways to calm and have patience with them. I use many techniques I have learned and developed to help people have a smooth and happy life with their dogs. I also use nutrition to assist both people and pets.
Please, let me introduce to you a new way of living that is joyous, happy and brings a new kind of freedom. I invite you to book an appointment with me at Prairie Flow Healing Arts.

Find Out More About Qigong and Energy Healing
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Qigong?
Qigong is a traditional Chinese mind-body practice that combines slow and gentle movements, controlled breathing, and focused intention to improve physical and mental well-being. It is used for health, relaxation, stress reduction, and spiritual development. The name "qigong" itself combines "qi," meaning life force energy, and "gong," meaning skill or work, referring to the practice of working with this vital energy.
What is Energy Work?
Energy work is a practice that treats the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—by manipulating a person's energy field to restore balance and promote healing. Practitioners use a variety of techniques, such as channeling energy through their hands, to dissolve blockages and encourage the body's natural flow of energy, with the goal of alleviating physical pain, reducing stress, and enhancing emotional and spiritual well-being.
What are the benefits?
Qigong and energy work offer numerous benefits, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved physical health (strength, balance, and circulation), and enhanced mental clarity and emotional well-being. These practices integrate gentle movements, focused breathing, and meditation to balance the body's "vital energy" (qi) and promote overall physical and psychological health.
